ok, so if you know anything about my life, you know that I am writing a Sr. Project, and instead of you reading 25 pages of what I wrote (I don't even want to read it) I'll give you the cliff's notes about what psychologists are saying about the youth's attitude towards God and religion.
The main thing is that they've summed up their beliefs into a "creed" called Moralistic Therapeutic Deism (say that three times fast) which is:
1. A God exists who created and orders the world and watches over human life on earth.
2. God wants people to be good, nice, and fair to each other, as taught in the Bible and by most world religions.
3. The central goal of life is to be happy and to feel good about oneself.
4. God does not need to be particularly involved in one’s life except when God is needed to resolve a problem.
5. Good people go to heaven when they die.
What makes me sad is that if this is what the church is teaching our young people, we are NOT teaching the truth, and if this our young people's view of Jesus, it breaks my heart that he's been boiled down to a "Moralistic therapeutic diety". And we are raising up a very selfish generation... trust me I could go on and on about this topic ( I feel like I did I mean, 25 pages! geez!!)
