Great big God...

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?

I think about this every now and then... And I guess Bible Study tonight was something that made me think of it. And I think Davis says it best here. Just if you think of the Universe and all that it is... This one planet called earth, God is so interested in us and then break it down that He is so very interested you... Am I selfish to think of it that way? I don't know but I do know that I like this verse. David thinks...and it's pretty awesome

I can't sleep and my mind is racing

It is really times like these when I miss my friends that I just ramble on and on about life and what makes the world go 'round and all that jazz at Starbuck's. I've had many-a wonderful time chatting it up. Alas, my Starbuck's friends are at least 50 miles away and I am left with Agamemnon... (my computer) Still I can't seem to fathom what God is trying to tell me but I really think it's something.
I am thoroughly confused with something that may not be all that confusing. I like getting e-mails from my long lost friend... I like the attention of having a "pen-pal" in Iraq. but due to the simple fact that I easily see myself falling for this man scares me. Not scares... excites but scares me all at the same time. Relationships don't happen with me. I'm the "friend", the "sister", the "f*** buddy"(sorry) but never the person the guy is interested in. 24 years and that's how I have learned to live. For this to happen could be big. For me to entertain this so much could be dangerous. Why? because if I entertain it too much and nothing comes from it then I did it again. So eventhough I am trying to keep this as what it is.... I can't help but wonder. My daybook of prayer tells me to listen to a soft voice and nothing else... and what I am hearing is "make sure you stay close. I'm still here."
My other worry is my primary.(my kid I mentor at work) Again I've gotten attached to this wonderful child that I know could be dead in a few years if she doesn't change. I hear "I'm in a gang just to fit in" Or "it's the only family I have" and it breaks my heart to know that they are telling the truth. It's rough... But when I see her she makes me smile... When she succeeds I'm so proud. The fact that no one tells her... She has no family because most of them are dead. It makes my job a hard reality. How can I empathize with someone like that? How can I share God's love to someone who has built a wall because of so much pain? But to know that I do tell her and that she listens to me in return makes it a bit of fresh air than having pots and other things thrown at you. These are the kind of things that makes me want to say that I love my job. I complain a lot but there are some shining days.

bored and irritated

So the bulk of my irritation is pretty silly. Ever since I was young, I seem to catch the "interest" of older men. when I was a teenager they would ask "if I was old enough" or "do I like older guys" and I'm not talking, I'm 16 and he's like 18 or 19...no, it's I'm 16 an he's like 30! Personally, I think it's pretty sick. Why am I telling you this? Well, because I thought that my old man days were behind me... But alas, today as I journey to the local Walgreens, I get approached by this man...I thought he was selling something but no...much to my disappointment this old man wanted to "put in his application" to be my boyfriend!! ARGH!! Sick! If you and my dad can hang out or me and your kids can kick it...i really, REALLY have nothing to offer you AND I don't want anything you have to offer!! Geez! Apperently it brings other people amusement but not me. good thing I don't care about guys. I just need the old ones to stop hitting on me, that's enough for now

Shrek the Third and other exciting things...

So I got to see Shrek the Third today, and I must say that Dreamworks did this trilogy justice. I'm skeptic about good movies where they try to pull more stories out of their butt, however this was still a good one. Justin Timberlake was a great addition to the classic Shrek cast and who knew Orgre babies could be so cute!!
What I like about summer is all the cool exciting movies that are coming out. I feel like a total dork about my excitement for the new Transformers movie!! (yeah!!!) However I'm afraid that what I see in the previews, the robots may not talk. Sure cool computer animation and all but... Optimus Prime not talkiing?! That's what gives them their character!! I think ther would be no point to have silent Decepticons and Autobots... (yes yes, I'm a dork, but you love me anyway)
And of course let's not forget The Simpsons movie...18 years in the making people!! geez!! But then you get the horrible waste of film fillers for the teeny-bopper generation like BRATZ...I mean come on, how many times can the super cute "dork" prevail over the extremely cute overacting "stuck up cheerleader" or "student body president"? Let's not forget the " I'm-really-the-boy-next-door-at-heart-but-I'm-captian-of-the-popular-sports-team" love interest!!! Then again if I was 14, I'd prpbably want to see it too...eh, what can you do?
Something that made me think today at work was why is fighting so exciting for people? That's the only way these girls know how to react to something. Mad, sad, gassy, whatever...let's fight over it and get an attitude and hold a grudge for as long as it takes. And this makes sense to them. My voice of reason "doesn't work in the real world" according to my 12-16 year old girls... Such wisdom...

*warning* this might be a little racy

I love disney films...I mean music, love, comedy relief, tragedy all wrapped up in 90 minutes or so!! And of course every little girl loved the Princesses, You had Belle, Cinderella, Aurora, Jasmine, and of course my personal fave besides Belle...Ariel (its a dolphin thing) But there was always something missing that we joked about..."How come we never had a 'sista' as a princess?"

Well, after 84 years of existance, the Walt Disney Corporation has finally created the company’s first black princess. Her name is Maddy, from the new animated film “The Frog Princess” and it will be set in New Orleans, Louisiana. look for it in 3 years ...2009

Something to do i guess.

I wish I had more to say since March 11! But alas, I don't. Other than the fact that I love my job eventhough it's trying and I have to remind myself that people DO like me outside of my job. But I remember a chapel that I went to that told me that it's ok that people don't like me. and my supervisor tells me that she likes it that girls don't like me at work. Which is fine. But I guess that's all about my job which is basically my life. Sad isn't it? but what are you going to do?

What have you learned??

* I’ve learned that no matter the amount of pain, it always gets less with time.

* I’ve learned that no matter how many times you say goodbye it always carries a certain amount of sadness with it.

* I’ve learned no matter how bad you want your kids to do the right thing, you don’t have a choice and have to watch them learn and deal with their decisions.

* I’ve learned that the world doesn’t wear a path down to your door, you have to go out and direct them to that door.

* I’ve learned that for every good action you receive another good reaction.

* I’ve learned that if you don’t have a grocery list, you never come home with everything you really needed.

* I’ve learned that if love isn’t a two way street, it ends up on a one way street with you being the only one on it.

* I’ve learned that it is much easier to give than to receive.

* I’ve learned that the line beside you always moves faster until you move into it.

* I’ve learned that it is o.k. to shed a tear in the theater, no one else can see you in the dark anyway.

* I’ve learned that life usually patterns itself like a storm, the rain and clouds are always followed by blue skies and sunshine if you have the patience to wait for them.

* I’ve learned that even if I care and get no return, in looking back after the hurt leaves, the effort wasn’t wasted.

* I’ve learned that anytime I am late, everyone else is early & visa-versa.

* I’ve learned that love is blind until you say, “I DO”.

* I’ve learned that you never walk around with your zipper down with no one around.

Birthdays

This is a different birthday in a new chapter I guess... My first birthday in 4 years where I was not at CBU ... I didn't celebrate too much and I don't feel neglected or anything... But I did have a good birthday, I thought I would be in Nebraska by now but my new job had a change of plans and I don't have do be in 28 degree weather but I do have to drive to Santa Ana for two weeks... Personally, I'd rather go to Nebraska, oh well.
I haven't been posting too much because one: there isn't much to tell and two: internet sucks in this house so i was able to fix that thanks to having a job. Full time work is wierd...there's this whole thing about salary and PPO's and HMO's and 401k's and a bunch of other stuff I know nothing about... I really don't feel like I'm this grown up who's in a career now. I still feel like I should be going to class or something...maybe I'll take one t omake myself feel better. and maybe training will be more interesting to tell you all about!!

just because it's been awhile...

Well, actually I don't have much to post. Other than I am currently residing in L.A. and I started a new job which I am excited about... God is just really blessing me right now. I feel sad that I miss the people I miss but it isn't the end of the world but life is different now as a graduate...but you know...it's that whole change thing everyone is talking about...
I'm in a Starbucks right now because the internet at home sucks. That and I got tired of hearing babies all day. but whatever, I'll see if I can post more at a later date!

Seeds...

So as a Behaviorial Science major and being a really good listener, I've discovered through the years that at some point in our lives there was a time when we thought that life was the pits. That no one understood what was going on, we weren't comfortable with ourselves, something in life happened that was tramatic, the list goes on and on. This is a genuine feeling, I'm not the exception to the rule in any way. But what I also discovered is that somewhere along the line, we either buried it, got over it, allow it to shape our personality in some way...for the good or for the bad. Hopefully if we are Christians we see where God delivered us from that bad time, or a person that helped us realize that God had delivered us from the bad time and we need to go from that point and live life.
Where the heck am I going with this boring blog?? Well, I've been thinking lately... And I'm figuring stuff out in my head as I type... So bear with me. Due to the theft of my CD's during the summer AND then my ipod in the fall, I have been confined listen to the radio every now and then just for ambient noise because let's face it, alot of the music out these days suck. So between "Fergilicious" and "Smack That"(I'm guessing that's the name of these songs) I hear the rapper Ludacris and still not a big fan of him either but I listened to him rap these lyrics:

Little erica is eleven years old
Shes steady tryin to figure why the world is so cold
So she pops x to get rid of all the pain
Cause shes havin sex with a boy whos sixteen
Emotions run deep and she thinks shes in love
So theres no protection hes usin no glove
Never thinkin bout the consequences of her actions
Livin for today and not tomorrows satisfaction
The days go by and her belly gets big
The father bails out he aint ready for a kid
Knowin her mama will blow it all outta proportion
Plus she lives poor so no money for abortion
Erica is stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothin else to do but get her clothes and pack
She say shes about to run away and never come back.

Not the happiest lyrics in the world, right? But it hit me that there is some little girl out there that feels like Ludacris is looking in the window of her life. I can say I worked with quite a few of them a few months ago. And I recently got offered a job (the one I was worried about) where I will be working with girls like this again. Not pregnant this time but still alot of hurt.
So at work, I had to give my two weeks notice and let them know what I would be doing and they asked how they could pray for me. I told them that for the most part, my goal in life is to be a blessing and not a burden to the people I come in contact with and I know that I will only be interacting with these girls for a short time but I want to somehow show them that there is something better. And my co-worker said "you want to plant a seed. that will nurture and grow into a tree" and as corny as that sounds, I was like... yeah!
It's funny how at this point in my life God wants me to be planter of seeds...when I feel like I'm just grasping the seeds of my own that's helping me grow. Most likely there will be more on this at a later date but we'll see.

i think I found a new show...

So I keep hearing a lot about this Heroes Show and how awesome it is. So I had to check it out for myself and I must admit that I could be a fan of it! I'm going to have to catch up on previous episodes but I like what I saw last night. So yeah I recommend you start watching if you haven't... it looks like it'll be a cool show.
And in the real world, I need to say that I HATE the job searching process...I hate the interviews, the applications, the résumé’s... all that jazz!! I wish I could find a job that I could stay in for a long time. Right now I'm in limbo as to whether I got a job that I was interviewed twice for. (They need to officially call me) or keep the one I worked part time for (which doesn't work for someone who has full-time status needs...ex. health insurance...yeah I have to find my own now...signs that society thinks you're a grown up) and moving back home to save money and all that jazz...I wish there was an easier way. But Jesus says, "Do not be anxious for anything" and even though money is a good/annoying thing. There are other things in the world that are far better...

Tiddy Bear For Cars

I saw this on my music pastor's blog...I love Sandals!!

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

how do you do it?

So I've had this silly blog for awhile now and I still don't know how to add other people that i read to my blog. i guess that's pretty pathetic...so somehow I'm going to get help with that. If you are one of the like 4 people who read this, maybe you could help me (wink, wink)
Anyway, my decisions resolution (which means the same thing...hmmm) is going good I think, but one thing is that everything is happening super fast. I didn't think I'd be thrown into so many situations at once. it just seems really, really fast and this time, you can't slow down...you would think after school you could but nope! it just goes...talk about being thrown into it! oh well... time for bed.
P.S. Can someone tell southern california it doesn't snow?! I did not sign up for this...I'm flippin COLD people!!

IT'S SNOWING!!!!

That is the phrase that I heard all morning from my kids at work. "Miss Campbell!!!! It's snowing!!!!!!" I thought it was cute seeing little bundles with legs running around in the "snow". I'm guessing it was snow, it was too soft to be hail and too solid to be rain, and it was't quite sleet either. So, let's just call it snow. either way I was NOT prepared to be working in 39 degree weather with whatever it was falling from the sky. I was COLD, but I guess I'm always cold so that is nothing new. The way those kids were acting you would have thought it was a blizzard but it did not stop them from playing outside which I thought waas insane because it was freezing but the teachers said "they need this time outside, you can't keep them cooped up inside all day!" Which I think is code for "I'm not ready to deal with these little monsters yet so let them freeze!! If enough of them get sick, I don't have to work!" Anyway that was the excitement of my morning...I knew I should have stayed in bed...but then again I like my job.

just a bit of cuteness really...

So the library at the school I work at is doing a Spotlight on C.S. Lewis because the older students are beginning to read the Chronicles of Narnia, therefore the library is decorated like the land of Narnia. It is really quite cool. My kindergarteners were certian that we were going to watch the movie so they began to tell me the plot of the movie and how Aslan the Lion was Jesus and all of that. So I told them that it is a book too and of course I have a couple of "know it all" kindergarteners and one in particular was eager to tell me who wrote the Chronicles of Narnia, and it went something like this:
Kid: Miss Campbell, I know who wrote the Chronicles of Narnia!!
Me: You Do?! Who wrote it?
Kid: Silly Lewis!!

It was the greatest thing I heard and I thought I'd pass it along...

Photogenic?

So my folks decided that I needed to take Sr. Pictures. For personal reasons, I don't like pictures of myself...but hey, you guys will like them...
I kind of felt like I was in High School again but whatever...enjoy!

meet my new husband!!!

well not quite...but I did enjoy this actor very much in the movie Dreamgirls. He doesn't have a very big part or a show stopping number, he's just so cute!! hahaha... I'm quite biased about this movie and i really really loved it. If you're not into musicals, you won't like it. Since Dreamgirls is one of my favorite musicals, it can do no wrong... And like i said I thought it was good...don't hate me if you don't like it. K, that's it for now...

I look like Eddie Murphy

Apparently I look the most like Eddie Murphy...hmmm...but then again I resemble Mike Myers too...
